The former 400m hurdles runner, who owns the national level in Russia, emigrated to Australia in 1997 with her husband, an athlete practicing the pole vault Viktor Chistiakov. In 12 months she became one of the best pole vaulters world. She won a bronze medal and World Championships Athletics 1999 in Seville and then a silver medal at the Summer Olympics in Sydney 2000.
